The best way to think about it is like a car. Your car performs better when you use premium gas. Your body does better when you feed it “premium food.”
Our bodies use carbohydrates much like cars use fuel. Thus, in a man’s diet, you are going to want about 60 per cent of your diet to come from carbohydrates. That means about 6 to 10 servings of things like steamed rice, bread, pasta, and things like that.
However, when doing this you need to make sure you are eating complexed carbohydrate like we just talked about. Stay away from things like sugar, honey, cakes, and desserts. These are going to have a bad effect on your body.
Next, you need to make sure you eat your protein! Muscles use protein as their building blocks. You should eat about 6 ounces of meat per day. This does not mean 6 hot dogs every day! You need to be eating lean protein like fish, dried beans, and poultry.
Remember that fat makes you fat; it’s as simple as that. Fat from food actually packs on more than twice as many calories as what you would get from protein and, of course, carbohydrates. This is when you compare it gram to gram. Fat is essential for good health, but most people eat about four times more fat than they should.
