Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances known to mankind. For this reason, a lot of people who know the risks still can’t tear themselves away from cigarettes. But in recent years, with the health effects becoming even clearer, more options have become available for people trying to kick the habit.
Nicotine patches and chewing gum have been available for donkey’s years, but their success was limited.
Thankfully, new gadgets such as inhalers and electronic cigarettes are proving a much more useful tool for one simple reason: they don’t just give smokers a hit of nicotine, they also replicate the ritual of smoking.
Besides the mouth-watering cravings, one of the hardest things to beat with smoking is the habit of having a cigarette. Whether this means a morning coffee and cigarette or having a ‘social smoke’ with workmates outside or lighting up with a pint, for many people it was as much about the ritual as it was about the chemical.
So the best thing to do if you want to quit smoking is to get yourself an electronic cigarette since this mimics the smoking experience perfectly. Not only does it look like the real thing – it even lights up at the end when you inhale – it even feels similar, giving users a ‘hit’ in the back of the throat similar to smoking.
But of course, it isn’t the same. The odourless vapour from an e-cigarette contains all the nicotine – the addictive ingredient – of a real fag, only without the toxic tobacco ingredients which lead to all manner of health problems such as tar.
If you’re thinking of quitting but don’t think you can manage, you have to try the latest generation of electronic cigarettes. With the myriad health benefits, they’re not just as good – they’re better than the real thing.
